ADHD

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is very common in both children and adults. It’s a myth that ADHD isn’t real, or that it’s over-diagnosed, or that it’s just a matter of laziness or lack of motivation. It’s a biological condition caused by differences in the areas of the brain that allow a person to self-regulate.

A medical doctor will diagnose ADHD based mostly on questionnaires and observation. A clinician looks for persistent difficulty in one or more of three areas — distractibility (lack of focus), impulsivity, and hyperactivity (excess motor activity or fidgetiness).

Science has proven that ADHD has been on the rise since we’ve developed an increasingly more digital and screen-based culture. ADHD runs in families and is much more common in dyslexic people than in the typical population.
